Peace Through Wabi Sabi

East meets West. It’s a familiar idea of a mashup between worlds whose esthetics seem so far apart. Worlds apart. Have you ever found yourself in a situation where there is no other explanation–just that you and your experiences seem out-of-place, a world apart?



Not long ago we shared our ideas on Wabi-Sabi, a Japanese esthetic which embraces the irregular, messy, uneven, and broken. It celebrates and honors the effects of time and living. In my last post I introduced Cheryl Hunter. She is a master storyteller. Notice her body language, the tone of her voice and rhythm of her words. She once again recounts her trauma but then goes on to describe important aspects of her personal journey, a journey to eventual peace. Here is her story of Wabi-Sabi:
